ANOTHER TOOTH BITES THE DUST AND A VISIT TO ROBYN

It was a dentist day yesterday.   I've had a bit of a sore tooth for a while now and Papa decided to make an appointment for me to see the dentist before the tooth started to give me a lot of trouble and then when I really needed to see the dentist, I would perhaps have to wait ages for an appointment.  Good old Papa!

So off I went up to see Greg at what used to be called Dental Elegance and is now called Bupa Dental. Greg is still there thank goodness.  Once seated with tissue thing around my neck and dark glasses on, Greg swung around on his wheely chair, looking like some strange insect with his funny binocular-type glasses on and asked me which tooth was causing the trouble.

"I think it's this one." I said, pointing to one of the teeth.  He picked up one of his instruments and knocked the tooth gently.  "Does that hurt?" he asked.  With my mouth wide open and quite unable to say very much, I shook my head.  "What about this one?"  Again a shaking of the head. "Mmmm!" said Greg.  He then took a stick with some sort of chemical on it put it on a tooth and asked me to bite really hard.  I bit, and bit and he said "Let go now!".  He took it out and look at me.  I looked at him and he said, "Mmmmm!"   Again he said "Open up!" and put the stick on another tooth.  "Bite!"  I bit.  He took the stick away and I said "Agghhhh!"   and he said "Mmmmm!"

After looking at the Xray and thinking for a bit he gave me three options.  The first option was that he did some root canal work and capped the tooth.  The second option was that he just capped the tooth.  But he pointed out that if the nerve was damaged he could still drill through the cap to take out the nerve but the cap would be weakened.  To do the root canal work and the capping would cost $3,800.00.   Yes!  Three thousand, eight hundred dollars.

As you can imagine, I took the third choice and have made another appointment to have the tooth taken out.  He said he will have to do it surgically as the tooth will probably come out in bits.  I'd rather he hadn't told me that but not to worry, I know he is a very good dentist and I won't feel a thing.

After leaving the dentist, I drove down to Robyn's for a nice cup of tea and a piece of gingerbread.  One of my other quilting friends Sally was there so the three of us had a lovely chat.  After Sally left, Robyn brough out her quilt with the Bible stories on it to show me the border she has made.

I love how Robyn has finished the quilt with the fruits of the Spirit.  Here's the verse from the Bible (The Message)...

..."But what happens when we live God's way?  He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard - things like affection for others, exhuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, as sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people.  We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely."

What I love about these verses is that it is not in our own strength that we live God's way.  It is the Holy Spirit, God's Spirit living within us that works through us enabling us to live the way he wants us to live.  I think that's just amazing.

Well me darlinks I shall away and look forward to chatting to you today or tomorrow.  BUT dinna worry if you're out and about.  If I don't hear I'll know there's a good reason.
