ORGANIZING AND LENDING

Hello my lovelies

It was a busy day yesterday.  My friend Kerrie J is heading over to Scotland for a five, yes, five week holiday.  I am so jealous.  She is going to visit Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Inner and the Outer Hebrides. I mentioned to her that it would be a good idea to carry some waterproof trousers in her backpack while she is walking in case of sudden squalls which, as you know can happen now and again in Scotland.

She asked if she could borrow them and I said "Of course you can Kerrie.  I'll look them out for you and bring them along to quilting."  And for the past couple of weeks, I completely forgot all about them.

When she picked me up for quilting on Wednesday, she mentioned it was not long before she was leaving for Scotland when I suddenly remembered about the waterproof trousers.  I quickly changed my watch to the other hand so that I would definitely not forget this time and yesterday was the day to FIND them!

Papa brought up the big ladders and I pulled down all my boxes with clothes in them.  Unfortunately there was no rhyme or reason to which cupboard or box the trousers were in so I ended up pulling everything out of every cupboard and then decided now was a good time to get the cupboards organised.

Before you could say "Which cupboard?" I had pillows, duvet quilts, and boxes of clothes all over the place.  As I stood looking at the boxes I decided now that I'm getting a bit older I should rethink how I store 'out-of-season' and 'not fitting at the moment clothes'!  "I think I'll just pop down to the shops and see if I can buy some smaller containers for these clothes." I said to Papa.

I went down to Northpoint shops and popped into that cheapy store OMG (Oh My Gosh).  They had trillions of containers and boxes so I was in my element and started to think about putting stuff in my fridge in containers, stuff in my drawers that weren't yet in containers and began asking myself what else I could put in a container?  In the end though I was very good and bought six goodly size baskets for my clothes.  Into one went my trousers, another my skirts, another dresses, two others tops and the last one - travel stuff.

After a lot of huffing and puffing and moving ladders all around the house I think I've managed to get everything stored better and my lovely containers will no longer be too heavy to pull down.

When Kerrie came I produced my little travel basket and told her all about my day.  We sat outside and had a cuppa while Papa brought out his big map of Scotland and gave Kerrie a couple of tips, the major one being that when she and Richard leave Glasgow to head North, they are to take the road to the Rest and Be Thankful.

We also gave Kerrie a few books about walks in the Outer Hebrides and a lovely book written and illustrated in water colours by Mairi Hedderwick.

She is also the author of the Katie Morag books.

And to finish off this post here are photographs of Rip and Smudge, Kerrie K's two dogs.

You can see that Rip is a border collie.  Smudge is the same as Molly, a cross between a poodle and a bichon frise.  They were both lying on Kerrie K's back deck while all the ladies sat around the table chatting, sewing, eating Kerrie J's yummy slice and drinking lots of tea and coffee.  Rip likes to have the occasional scratch and slowly moves around the table and stopping at each lady.
