Isn't this angel gorgeous?

It was made and embroidered by Mary Addison.  You can see the rest of her post here.

THESE BLUE SKIES WILL TELL ME....

Hello my lovelies!

Isn't this oil painting of Emma's just beautiful?

She has hung it in her kitchen and I imagine that when she comes in in the morning and looks at it, the joy of the morning must fill her wee heart.

Don't you love the way the painter has painted the side bits too?

SONG - IN CHRIST ALONE

This is a photograph of Keith and Kristyn Getty with their children.  They are the Irish couple who wrote the song IN CHRIST ALONE.

When we were at church on Sunday with Auntie Emma and Uncle Michael and the boys, we noticed that they sang a lot of their songs.

Here's a link to Krysten reading from the Bible and then singing the song.

BIN COOKIN'

Hello my lovelies!

I've managed to get a few things in and out of the oven today.  Here are some gingerbread men.  Papa and I decided to just give the 'babies' belly buttons.  They would have been covered in currants if we had tried to give them a face and buttons :)

I also made a honey and apple cake to take down to Brissie tomorrow.  And...some shortbread and nibbles made from Nutragrain, mixed nuts and curry.   Papa is busy washing up the dishes of which there were many.

And while I was cooking, I downloaded these two and listened to lots of lovely carols.

PAPA THE PHOTOGRAPHER

I was eating breakfast and checking out some Christmas recipes.

I sent him off this morning with a long list to buy lots and lots of baking stuff and as soon as I'm finished this post, it's on with the apron, the fan, some Christmas music and out with the butter, flour, eggs, fruit, honey, cocoa, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, tins....

POOR FISHY

Hello my lovelies!

What did the fish say when it bumped into a wall?

"Oh! dam!"

From my Christmas cracker at Kerrie's.  Another one to come!  xxx

CHRISTMAS IS A'COMIN'

Hello my lovelies

Christmas tree is up.  As you can see I've put it beside the back deck.  Sinead, Finn, Oscar and wee Emlyn decorated it when they were here a week or so ago.  They did a great job.

Nativity on my lovely wee blue cupboard.  Do you like the frame on the cross-stitch?  The purple really picks up the purple in the letter.

...and the garden in December.  Look how tall the Leopard trees are!

LOG CABIN NUMBER TWO - TOP FINISHED

Hello my lovelies!

Well, as you can see I have finished Log Cabin Number Two.  What do you think I should call it?  I used red centres, creams for the 'light' and scraps for the 'dark'.  I noticed when I was laying out the blocks, that quite a few of the 'lights' were a bit darker than the rest.  With the help of Papa, we put the darker 'lights' in the centre.  You may not see them clearly but they are there.

I made the first border from cream scraps and the second border from the darker scraps.  I'm really pleased with it.  I'll tack it for quilting in the New Year.

CHRISTMAS BREAK-UP AT ROBYNS

Hello my lovelies!

Here are some photographs from Friday.

Isn't Robyn's tree just gorgeous!  I just remembered when I typed 'gorgeous' that Fergus imitates me by exclaiming in a loud voice and holding his hands to his head, "I don't believe it!  It's just gorgeous!"

This photograph is a bit blurry but you get the idea!

Bonnie's quilt which she has been working on for quite a long time.  All that applique has been done by hand.

And the table set for our lovely lunch.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH AT KERRIE'S

Hello my lovelies!

We had a lovely Christmas lunch at Kerrie's with everyone bringing a plate.  Kerrie had beautifully decorated the whole house.  There were even bows on the fence and when I climbed the stairs on to the verandah there were Santa hats on the verandah lights.  I laughed out loud.

From left to right are Kerrie, Val, Lynn, Carol, Robyn, Kerrie et Nan!

LOG CABIN NUMBER TWO - BORDERS

Hello my lovelies!

I decided on a small cream border and then a larger border with left over scraps to finish off.  Here's the cream one on.  I'm in the process of making the outer border.  I've been working away while still in my pyjamas this morning, but I really must finish off and get ready for the Christmas Lunch at Kerrie's today.

I'm making that lovely potato salad, the one with the bacon, onion and cream, so I better go and  get my skates on.

BLOCKS 19 AND 52

Hello my lovelies!

I am so enjoying working on these blocks.  They are so easy to carry around in my small sewing box.  I have cut out lots of birds roughly and pick one up when I feel like it, cut out the four pieces accurately, tack them and then tack them on to the navy fabric ready for sewing down.  I have another tree pattern, but am concentrating on this one just now - it's the easiest and has the least number of pieces :)

It was a busy time at the weekend at Auntie Emma's what with the move and everything.  We managed to get all the boxes unpacked except for two rooms - Uncle Michael's office and the main bedroom.  I spoke to Auntie Emma today and I think she's just about there.   She had a company there who were busy washing the outside of the house, so that it will be all sparkly and clean for Christmas.

Auntie Emma is also busy at the moment getting the boys uniforms and books ready for next year. At BBC, they get things done early!

We have had wonderful rains over the last month or so.  Tanks are full all over the town, everything is green and everyone is happy.  Today is dry so the dogs are enjoying running around the garden and annoying everyone who walks past the gate.

Papa's outside planting up some more pots with herbs.  He has a lovely collection just outside the garage.  I put the little gnome that you made in amongst the pots.  It looks really cute - a little Papa Smurf among the herbs.

Well my dears, I'll away.  I have some birds ready to go under the iron and more to tack.
