READING, EATING AND CELEBRATING

Hellooo my looovlies...

I had a lovely brekfast on the back deck through the week and couldn't resist taking these photographs before I sat down.  All ready to eat one of my favourite meals of the day, have a read of my book, do my Bible Study and write a couple of birthday cards for Janet and Finn.

Well, today has been a busy day.  I was very naughty and slept in until after 8.00am.  This ment, of course, a mad dash to get ready for church.  I even managed to get a lode of washing on the line before we left...just!  Today was the dedication service for the grand piano that has been left to the church by a family here in Toowoomba.  It was originally the family's parents and grandparents paino. I'm not sure if I should have apostrophes after parents and grandparents?

We had a beautiful service with lots of singing and piano music.  HERE'S a link to one of the duet peices played on the piano.  It is beautiful.  I'm sure that Andrew said it was written by Mr Bach after his wife died.  The choire from Fairholme College were there too and sang Ubi Caritas.  And here's a link to that to.

After the service, we went into the hall for a giant morning tea and caught up with lots of folk and ate a cake or too :)  Then it was the big clean-up and home.

Papa made a roast chicken with roast vegetibles for lunch and we are now about to sit down and have a rest.

Hope your weekend is going well.

OLD FOTIES

Hello my lovelies!

I was going through my old foties and found this one.  I'm not sure if you've seen it before.  It's your Mama accompanying Uncle Louis.

IT'S SO COLD HERE!

Hello my lovelies

The wind is howling outside which isn't unusual for August.  It seems to be a month where the westerlies batter us and make the ground even dryer than it already is.  Papa has been moving some plants around the garden for me and while he was giving them lots of water to help them settle into the ground, he decided it would probably be better to water the whole garden while he was at it.  That was last week and by the look of the weather forecast he will have to get the hoses out again real soon.

I'm sitting here with four layers on plus my Ugg boots and I still feel cold.  My office isn't the best place to be on a cold day.  The heating is on in the kitchen and I've succumbed to putting on the gas fire in the lounge.  Tomorrow the wind is supposed to die down and the days to follow are warming up again.

I arrived back home from Brisbane on Thursday evening.  Papa came down to pick me up so we travelled home together.    Here are a couple of photographs from my Brisbane sojourn.

As you can see, Fergus loves using the IPad.  He came to me and whispered "Can I have the IPad?" as he knows he's not allowed the IPad willy nilly.  "Pardon?" I said.  And again he whispered....  He's allowed it for a treat after lunch so I said to him, "You can have the IPad after lunch Fergus."  He then asked for a sandwich which I made for him not realizing that he thought if he ate his sandwich that would be lunch and he could have the IPad.  The wee man ate his sandwich and then asked for the IPad again and I pointed to my watch and said, "It's not lunchtime yet!"  Life can be very confusing when you are four.

Here he is playing with his Lego.  Can you see his 'cones' for when he makes his building sites.  I imagine Auntie Emma took him for his favourite shopping expedition at Bunnings to buy them.

Well my dears I'm heading into the lounge and some heat to do some more sewing on my log cabin blocks.  Looking forward to hearing how you are both going and how the vacation classes have been going.

SATURDAY MORNING AT 10.00AM

Hello my lovelies

We're back home again.  Papa and I left Brisbane around 3.00pm yesterday and got caught in awful peak hour traffic.  It took us almost an hour to reach the highway.  Papa tried different ways to get out of the traffic jams but every time  he did we would soon end up in another jam.  I think this was caused by a number of things;  it was Friday (but of course...as you will remember... Sunday was a'comin'), schools were coming out and it was the start of the State school holidays.

I must say it is nice to be home again.  It's 10.00am.  I've done a few chores;  cleaned the two bathrooms and laundry and hung out the washing.  I like to get some of my chores done before sitting down for breakfast - I feel like I've earned a wee bit of a rest:)

Papa has disappeared.  He said he was off to buy some ham for our sandwiches for lunch about an hour ago.  I'm not too worried as this often happens.  It will be very interesting to see what he has been up to while he's been out.

We had a lovely time down in Brisbane with the boys.  We didn't do anything special, just the usual chores and walks to the parks nearby which was lovely.  We had to end up cancelling our proposed trip to Sandgate as we would have been leaving the dogs for too long.  Perhaps another time.

Here's another photograph of Fergus in his wigwam.  This one he's looking out of the side window.

And here's one with Papa and Spot who thought it was a very comfortable kennel to be in, especially with Papa whom he adores.

Michael is now on holiday from work and Auntie Emma arrives back home today.  Tomorrow they  have rented a gorgeous house up the coast for a week and then they will be back in Brisbane for another week before the boys go back to school again.

I've been sitting here thinking about the garden.  We will soon be into July which is time to start pruning my roses so I think I may drag out my garden file today and refresh my memory of what to do.  It's a bit like getting to the end of a quilt and having to do the binding.  It's been a long time since the last time you did it and you always need a refresher.

Papa's arrived back.  He popped into Hanna's to buy a pair of slippers.

They are short Ugg boots.  Not the best looking things, but he'll only be wearing them at night-time thank goodness.

Well my dears on that 'cosy' note I shall head off  and put the kettle on for a wee cuppa.
